If the Noise Source is failing it must be replaced.

The following is the replacement procedure:

1) Turn off the system power, support the Test Head on a cart or table and remove the small Phillips head screws from the top section of the Test Head.
Caution: The manipulator is counter balanced and needs to be locked in place before removing the weight of the Test Head!

2) Carefully raise the manipulator arm away from the Test Head which will expose the internal RF section.

3) Locate the failed noise source and carefully disconnect the cables labeling each one as it is removed with tape. Remove the mounting screws and lift it out of the Test Head.

4) Install the replacement noise source in place of the removed unit.

5) Carefully reassemble the cable connectors and secure the noise source by replacing its screws.
NOTE: Be careful when connecting the SMA end of the cable to the same point it was removed from. Utilize two wrenches, one to tighten the connector and the other to hold the small internal connector collar right where the cable enters the connector body.

6) Lower the top section of the Test Head with the manipulator and secure it by replacing it’s screws.

7) Connect the power and perform the System | Startup procedures. Run the "Diagnose Noise Reference", “Diagnose Noise Source”, and “Diagnose Noise Floor “ diagnostic routines to check the integrity of the new noise source.
Note: When replacing a component inside the Test Head, all DC and RF cables must be dressed exactly as originallyfound. This is extremely important because it will affect the isolation and noise floor of the system
